A word from our new Chairman

4 August 2026

Matt Dronsfield was appointed Chair of Wisborough Green Sports at the trustees’ meeting on 16 July 2026. Here he introduces himself to members.

It’s a pleasure and an honour to take on the role of Chairman for Wisborough Green Sports. Some of you will already have had the dubious pleasure of playing alongside me at some point in the past 25 years that I’ve been associated with the club.

For those of you who don’t know me, I played for the 2nd’s for several years, a useless bowler, late order batsman and wicket keeper. I also helped develop junior cricket.

I was a founding member of Touch Rugby and Run Wisborough, but dislike running and prefer reffing!

So I’m delighted to now be given the opportunity to contribute to the club’s activities in a different way.

The club has much to be proud of, not least in terms of sportsmanship, respect for fellow members and the opposition whilst being competitive on the pitch.

We have a great deal to look forward to as we progress the much needed redevelopment of the Pavilion. You all have a key role to play in making this happen through your continued support as players or non-players.

I look forward to helping drive the continued success of the club.

Sporting Regards

Matt Dronsfield WGS CIO Chairman & Trustee
