New trustees and a new chair

16 July 2026

At a meeting on 16 July 2026, Wisborough Green Sports appointed new trustees and a new chair. Nobody stood down — the board has grown, which is the good news in it: more people willing to give their time to the charity at exactly the point when there is most to do.

The charity’s trustees are now:

  • Matt Dronsfield — Chair
  • Michael Gadd
  • John Wheatley
  • Albie Napper
  • Anthony Dixon
  • Steve Calder Smith

Wisborough Green Sports is a Foundation-model Charitable Incorporated Organisation, which means the trustees are its voting members. They are unpaid, serve three-year terms, and between them cover the four village clubs, the Pavilion and the Green. More on how the charity is run, together with its governing documents and accounts, is on the Governance page.

A larger board means more hands on the practical work of running the Pavilion and the Green, and a wider spread of experience behind the pavilion project. The appointments also come at a significant moment for it. Planning permission for the new pavilion was granted in April 2025, and in June 2026 the Parish Council — having obtained counsel’s opinion on building on a registered village green — voted to support it. With those two questions settled, the charity’s attention now turns to funding and delivery: a fresh cost exercise is under way, a professional grant adviser has been engaged, and conversations about donations are already in progress.

If you would like to be part of that, the trustees would be glad to hear from you — chair@wisboroughsports.org.
